Art of Illusion - Renderings

Art of illusion is a nifty little 3d software built on Java. It's under 6 MB in size but packs a serious punch. The creator, Peter Eastman has essentially taken a superb renderer and wrapped a set of modelling, surfacing and animation tools around it.

I've been playing with this little 'un for a while now... and i'm getting really fond of it.

Download it here. And see the forum where I've been posting all this stuff here

Parashuram - Parallele Characters

I've been working with the Pastelknight over the last year on his final year college project. It's part of my job to mentor the applied art students, and this guy's project turned out to be a comic. And a very viable one at that.

Every time we discuss the characters or the plot, I have these vivid images in my head... of course I don't discuss those with Abilash. No point biasing him, it's his project anyway. Now Abilash has finally released all his characters online, Go see it!

I couldn't take not, so I went ballistic last night.

THE ORGANTICs

Early organtic design. These were mostly used for exploration. Bet they were called Rover too.

The later models were equipped with a rudimentary organtic brain. It's called the brain because it resembles a bit of Coral.

By now the humans are loosing control.

Parashuram

Since Parashuraman is an Organtic himself, I thought he ought to be built like one. Though he's an evolved version.

In Battle. The earlier versions were a bit beefy, until I figured as an Organtic, he doesn't need body mass to do damage.

Of course, none of this probably makes sense unless you've seen the genuine deal, here.

My beautiful Inkscape

Boy, It gets my goat that software like Inkscape is taking so bloody long to get into the toolbox of pro illustrators. Inkscape is so freakin fast and intuitive to use that you wonder if the people you evangelize it to so often are either blind or just not amazed enough. It happens when you use closed source for free for so long, that the value of a superb (actually free) tool just escapes you.

Some simple Inkscape stuff over the weekend made for my 3d tutorial blog.
